Posture and Post-Techniques Class
Class Description
A discussion of Ortho-Bionomy philosophy and principles including:
• Philosophical and scientific roots in Osteopathy, a 100-year-old system of health care that recognizes the body’s self-healing and self-regulating capacity.
• Development of therapeutic skills in assessment, palpation, and balancing
• How to utilize neuro-muscular exercises for assessment, release, integration and self-care
• Defining and recognizing postural integrity Neuro-muscular exercises and positional release techniques for the entire body including:
Iliopsoas muscle group – at the center of our being – these “messenger” muscles are dynamic movers of the central nervous system.
SI (sacro-iliac joint) – a key to pelvic integrity and coherency.
Lumbar spine (low back) – weight bearing vertebrae – pathway to postural stability.
Sacrum – the “smart” bone of the pelvic ring – transmits weight, absorbs stress, and affects gait, stride and movement.
Thoracic spine – houses and protects our vital organs – assists in breathing - the skeletal “feeler”, focuser and translator.
Cervical spine (neck) – the most flexible part of our spine – mediates and communicates.
Postural reeducation: – assessment, release and support for the entire spine including sensory reeducation exercises for scoliosis, lordosis, and kyphosis.
